Iron ore is one of the most important materials mined from the surface of the Earth. A lack of pure iron ore causes the world's mining operations to create inventive methods of extraction. Iron is used in steel production, which is imperative for modern economic expansion in industrialized nations. The increased usage of iron may ultimately deplete known sources of iron ore, leading to further recycling programs
World iron ore resources are more widely distributed. The Soviet Union has so far the world’s largest iron ore, iron ore reserves of more and Australia, Canada, the United States, Brazil and South Africa and other countries. Brazil, Australia, South Africa’s hematite belongs to high grade ore by crushing, sieving, generally only can be sold as finished products; China, the United States and the former Soviet Union ‘s hematite, reserves is big, but the ore grade is low, more difficult to choose.

Iron ore beneficiation, according to the nature of the ore and nature, can have a variety of different technological process. One of the main magnet ore dressing process flow, weakly magnetic iron ore beneficiation process, mixed with iron ore ( magnet hematite ore beneficiation process ) and vanadium titanium magnetite ore beneficiation process.

Iron Ore Beneficiation Plant


Iron ore beneficiation plant is used to beneficiate a wide variety of industrial iron ores. In this application the relatively large volumes of nonmagnetics are usually the commercial products. The amount of magnetic material removed is quite small, and dry separation is the general rule. 
Iron ore beneficiation plant is also important in processing phosphate, titanium, chrome, manganese, tungsten, molybdenum, nickel, niobium and tantalum ores.
Magnetic separation of iron ores is one of the fastest-growing segments of the minerals beneficiation industry. The tonnage of taconite ores processed annually by magnetic separation zcill, in n few years, reaches 100 million.
Magnetic separation occupies an attractive position in the field of ore beneficiation. It is a simple effective method, used for some 150 years and steadily growing more important. This type of beneficiation originated in 1792, when William Fullarton was issued a British patent covering the separation of iron ore by magnetic attraction.

Iron Ore Beneficiation Preparation

Very low grade Iron ore cannot be used in metallurgical plants and needs to be upgraded to increase the iron content and reduce the gangue content. A process adopted to upgrade ore is called Beneficiation. Iron ore is upgraded to a higher iron content through concentration. Iron ore is being beneficiated all round the world to meet the quality requirement of Iron and Steel industries. However, each source of Iron ore has its own peculiar mineralogical characteristics and requires the specific beneficiation and metallurgical treatment to get the best product out of it. The choice of the beneficiation treatment depends on the nature of the gangue present and its association with the ore structure. Several techniques such as washing, jigging, magnetic separation, advanced gravity separation and flotation are being employed to enhance the quality of the Iron ore.
Due to the high density of hematite relative to silicates, beneficiation usually involves a combination of crushing and milling as well as heavy liquid separation. This is achieved by passing the finely crushed ore over a bath of solution containing bentonite or other agent which increases the density of the solution. When the density of the solution is properly calibrated, the hematite will sink and the silicate mineral fragments will float and can be removed.
