Stationery items like note books, exercise books, log books, etc are always in demand

for students. The demand for note books is more in the months of June to August in

every year. Similarly, registers are essential in every office, institutions, organisations,

etc.  The size of the products will be decided as per the local market demands.

Market Potentials

There is increasing demand for note books as stationery items in view of rapid growth

in institutions and offices of government and commercial establishments. The market

is good particularly in tribals areas due to non-availability.

Manufacturing Process

The manufacturing process of note books, registers, etc is quite simple. In this

process, first of all white papers are ruled with the help of ruling machine as per the

local requirement. The the ruled paper sheets are folded into the required size of note

book (92/192 pages) and hten after binding it with grey boards, labels and covers and

pasted on it. These labels can also be printed by the entrepreneur in his own unit and

various multi colour attractive covers can be purchased from the market. After

pasting the covers, cutting is done to give them the finishing touch. The same

procedure is followed for making the registers also.

The process involved in the manufacturing of Notebooks, Long Books and Writing Pads is mainly divided in three parts:

1.  Ruling on paper according to product

2.  Binding

       3. Finishing and Packing.

1:: Ruling: In this process blank paper, the principle raw material for manufacturing note books, long books and writing pads is passed through ruling machine and with the help of metal discs and ink, lines as per our requirements are printed on paper. Various kinds of rulings can be carried out on paper like French Ruling, Chax Ruling, Arabic Ruling etc. The paper size is decided according to the final size of the product.

2:: Binding: One of the important processes for manufacturing of Note Books, Long Books and Paper Stationery is binding. It is the set of processes like counting, folding, stitching, pasting and cutting of paper. All the processes are decided as per the requirements of respective products. Various machines are used to carry out this processes like guillotine – paper cutting machine, stitching machine, dab press etc. Also, a variety of raw materials other then paper, like straw board, binding cloth, stitching wire, cover paper and others are consumed at various stages of this process.

3:: Finishing and Packing: Last but not the least, is the stage in manufacturing paper stationery which is final cutting and packing as per the requirement of the customer. In this stage, notebooks, long books and paper stationery are cut and finished first, and then packing as per the customer's requirement is done. Thereafter, on completion of this process, finished goods are ready for dispatch.
